GDCR Attorneys at Law’s Trusts & Estates and Tax team is seeking a Paralegal to primarily support our growing estate and trust litigation and general administration practice. We are a collaborative and supportive group and firm as whole, looking for an additional team member who values those qualities and desires professional and personal growth. Position is full-time, on-site/in office. Office hours are 8:30-5, Monday-Friday.

Qualifications:

Candidate must:
• Have integrity and be committed to doing things right for clients and our firm.
• Have experience with probate and/or trust administration. Experience with civil litigation is a plus, but not required.
• Be able to demonstrate empathy and be adept at communicating with clients and related parties experiencing recent loss of loved ones and, in some cases, intense family conflict.
• Be comfortable supporting a busy practice with a high-volume desk, including fielding client inquiries and anticipating attorney needs.
• Be flexible and able to readjust priorities.
• Be highly organized and detail oriented, with a strong sense of urgency to get positive results.
• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to be clear, concise, grammatically correct and committed to quality review of written work product.
• Be willing to become knowledgeable in group’s other areas of practice, including estate planning and related real estate and business needs.
• Be willing to complete administrative tasks, including copying, scanning and scheduling.
• Be accustomed to using technology to maintain files, and be or become proficient in Microsoft Word, Juris, iManage, Excel, and other core legal office software programs.
• Have discipline to track and record time spent on client matters for billing purposes.
Responsibilities
• Prepare legal documents, including court pleadings, motions, orders, settlement agreements and related documents, and respond to discovery requests.
• Prepare written correspondence.
• Build and maintain effective and proactive communication with the firm’s clients, related and opposing parties, court staff, and internal team members.
• Investigate facts to help in the negotiation of legal disputes.
• Build and maintain case timelines to ensure that deadlines are met and progress is being made.
• Calculate Executor and Trustee compensation.
• Calculate court fees and follow internal procedures for payment.
• Perform administrative duties such as answering phone calls and organizing case files so all documents are readily accessible.
• Perform legal research as needed to complete tasks in accordance with the law.
• Support other staff members as needed to ensure all clients receive an excellent client experience.

Part Time Paralegal

Part Time Paralegal
Job Summary

GDCR is seeking a part time Paralegal to become a part of our team! This position is hybrid (person/remote position) for about 25 hours/week. You will provide overall support to one of GDCR’s practice groups.

Responsibilities:

• File pleadings and notices in State, Federal and administrative agencies
• Maintain documents, letters/emails, pleadings and other filings in the firm’s document management system in an organized manner, as directed by the attorney
• Create and maintain document production logs as well as privilege logs
• Adhere to any court mandated deadlines
• Competent in Word, Excel and Powerpoint
• Create the initial draft of legal documents that adhere to the formatting requirements of State and Federal courts
• Organize and file motions for summary judgment, and other motions, in State or Federal court
• Knowledge of the required redactions in State and Federal court as well as the respective discovery deadlines
• Review of deposition transcripts and prepare summaries of deposition transcripts
• Provide professional responses in all communications in a timely manner
• Perform any needed mailings of physical documents, including letters to pro se plaintiffs

Qualifications:

• Two plus years of paralegal experience in a civil litigation context with State or Federal courts
• Ability to prioritize and multitask
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Deadline and detail-oriented
• Problem solving experience to best serve the client

Required license or certification:
• Paralegal certificate is a plus
